Kyle W. Ashley was born in Ohio in 1957 to a father who was a welder and a mother that created love.
Even as a child, he enjoyed watching his father create with metal, wood, and stone. At the age of nine, his father began teaching him the art of creating by welding. The amazing ability to heat, melt, fuse and bond metal became a lifetime fascination. Over the years, he developed an interest in how to be creative, as well as functional, with his metal working.
Kyle has lived in several states, as his father was in construction and moved frequently across the country. He feels this exposed him to life at a real level, experiencing many influences and cultures. He is currently a general contractor and enjoys working one on one with the home owner to re-create their personal living space. He specializes in designing and fabricating custom metal art for the home and garden, which includes furniture, gates, arbors, railings, wall art, garden sculptures, etc. If it can be dreamed, drawn or designed, he will bring it to reality for them.
Kyle has always felt an affinity for metal, glass, and stone. He believes his art is not created, so much as expressed. "Allowing this expression to flow through me is a truly gratifying experience."
He entered the world of art in 2002. Kyle exhibited at the Park City Arts Festival, in Utah that year, and again in 2007. In addition, he showed at the Bountiful Davis Summerfest, the Brigham City Peach Days, the Mountain Spirit Festival in Midway, Utah, along with several charity functions, and private garden shows. He has exhibited in the San Diego Arts Festival, and the Kayenta Arts Festival, in St George, Utah, the Mountain Artists Rendezvous in Jackson Hole, Wy. in 2007 and 2008, Crested Butte Arts Festival in Crested Butte, Co., in 2008, as well as the Salt Lake City Farmers Market. His pieces have been shown at Utah Artist Hands in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Train Depot Gallery in Odgen, Utah, and is currently showing in the 873 Gallery in Kayenta, Utah. He has participated in the Tooele Arts Festival, Ogden Arts Festival, Red Butte Gardens, all in Utah, and at the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale, Az. His work was commissioned for the hospital in Globe, Az, the Prickly Pear Restaurant in Scottsdale, Az., as well as for private collections in Oakdale, Ca., Summit Park, Ut., Bountiful, Ut., and Draper, Ut. In the fall of 2008, he was selected for 1st place in his category in the Murray Juried Art Show in Murray, Ut.
